A Thread to Pull: The Book Club

You know when you’re reading a book and something sparks a question in your mind? You want to look it up, but you are so invested in the book that you can’t stop reading. So, the thought just floats away… and then it happens again, and again. This happens to me all the time, and I’ve started to think of these thoughts as “threads to pull”. This book club is my way of following those threads, exploring the ideas behind them, and sharing them with you! My hope is to create a community where we can discuss these tangents (and the books, of course) and experience some wonderful literature together. Head over to The Book Club home page to see what we are currently reading, and to find an archive of previous books. Follow along on social media to stay up to date!

A Little About Me

Hi! My name is Brianna. I am currently a graduate student at Stony Brook University studying physics and science communication. I consider myself to be a serial hobbyist. I’m always exploring something new, but some of my persisting hobbies include reading, crochet & knitting, photography, plants, cooking, puzzles, and saying hello to any and all animals I see. I am incapable of turning down a trip to the bookstore or plant store (my roommates will attest to this). I also watch a ton of tv and movies. I rewatch the same 5 or 6 shows every year with a few new ones sprinkled in here and there.

My girlfriends and I have had a book club for almost two years now, and it is one of my absolute favorite things! It is so enjoyable reading a chapter and then rushing over to the book club to read what everyone said and then get to share my thoughts. It helps a lot that my friends are hilarious.

This project has grown from that same feeling of excitement, a desire to indulge my curiosity, and an eagerness to share what I find with whoever might be interested.
